Taralucci e Vino has many personalities. For breakfast, you can get a great cappuccino and cornetto. For lunch, the panini are excellent (prosciutto and parmesan, grilled zucchini and mozzarella are my favorites). The pasta is good too — buckwheat pappardelle with broccoli rabe, and ravioli in butter and sage. Really, all the food is good, served in a casual atmosphere. At night, the lights darken and it turns more into a restaurant, but with the communal table, it remains casual. The espresso has been top notch for NY, though on a recent visit I learned that barrista, Cristiano from Abruzzi, had departed. He took his espresso seriously. His replacement doesn’t quite get it. Hopefully, they will find another Cristiano soon.

Also visit the Taralucci outpost at Alessi on Green St, or on 1st Ave.
